Graduates Rising in Data Science (GRIDS) is the premier graduate student organization within the USC Viterbi School of Engineering’s Department of Computer Science. Established to foster the academic and professional growth of students in Informatics, Data Science, and Computer Science, GRIDS aims to create a vibrant community through experiential learning, strategic corporate partnerships, and dynamic networking opportunities.

Role and Responsibilities

As the Vice President of GRIDS, I was instrumental in steering the organization towards achieving its mission. My key responsibilities included:

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Collaborated closely with the President to oversee the daily operations of the club.
    • Led a team of committee heads to ensure the seamless execution of events and initiatives.
  • Event Planning and Coordination:
    • Organized a variety of events such as workshops, seminars, hackathons, and guest lectures featuring industry experts.
    • Managed logistics, secured venues, and coordinated with speakers to deliver high-quality learning experiences.

    • Fostered a collaborative and inclusive environment to enhance member engagement.
    • Initiated peer-to-peer learning sessions and mentorship programs to support academic and professional development.

    • Established and maintained relationships with leading tech companies and organizations.
    • Secured sponsorships, internship opportunities, and exclusive events for GRIDS members.

    • Developed and implemented marketing strategies to increase membership and event participation.

    • Managed member communications and newsletter subscriptions through Mailchimp, enhancing engagement and information dissemination.
  • Event Management:
    • Utilized platforms like Eventbrite for event registrations and coordination, streamlining the planning process and improving attendee experience.
